It seems that I had to do a power drain on my laptop which for some reason helped.
"..it would be nice to perform a power drain on the laptop by long-pressing its Power button for several seconds until it turns off. Once done, turn it back on after a minute, then see if the ports will now work again."
I hope this might help also to others.
