Hi @Greg Gillilan
Once your laptop goes to sleep, the hub is unavailable, the system goes into sleep mode, the hub's HDMI and USB ports lose power, have no signal, are unusable, and therefore cannot recognize the display.
Please right-click on the blank space of the computer desktop, select Display Settings, then click "Power and Sleep" on the left, change the time to enter the sleep state to "Never", and change the power plan in other power settings to balance or high performance , do not choose energy saving.
The MAC setting is closed and not in sleep mode
1. After turning on the computer, click the System Preferences icon in the lower dock bar.
2. In the opened System Preferences page, find the Energy Saving icon and click Open.
3. Go to the energy-saving page, set the automatic shutdown time to never, so that the computer will not sleep as long as the monitor is not turned off.
4. Click the power adapter option on the page.
5. Under the power adapter page, set the automatic shutdown time of the computer when it is charging to never.
6. Click to check the option of Prevent the computer from automatically going to sleep when the display is off.
Best regards,
