HDMI ports not recognized on MacOS M1. Low power?

  • Problem:

Hello. I bought a Selore &S-Global hub for my Macbook Pro 2021, M1 Silicon. I'm running MacOS v14.6.1. I want to connect my monitor via HDMI. The monitor recognizes the hub on all ports (i.e. the 'no device connected' screen turns off), but doesn't show up on the Mac Displays and the screen stays black.

    Troubleshooting:

    I tried three monitors:

    • Old 1080p monitor with DVI to HDMI adapter.
    • 4K Samsung TV via HDMI.
    • 4K Dell montitor via HDMI.

The TV displays a message saying power to the hub might too low. I switched my regular Macbook charger for a bigger one, of 140W, which should be more than enough. No changes.

Tried connecting the 4K Monitor via USB-C (it has a USB-C port). Same result.

Tried a different M1 Macbook Pro. No changes.

    All other ports work OK.

    Product Specifications:

    • Model: SEDK0705
    • S/N: 2352

I would return the item but I live in South America and bought this from the US via Amazon, so it's complicated getting it through customs again. Please help.

  • Hi @Ana Rodriguez

We need the following information to better provide you with technical advice:

Open the display settings and take a photo or video of the entire connection (need to see the product, laptop, external monitor, host port, and cables)

    Selore

  • Hello @Selore Global,

I believe I got it working. Connection from Selore to MacBook seemed to be the issue. Product came without USB-C cable (though promised on box), so I improvised with an old one I had. I bought a new one, Type C Gen 2 (5A) and seems to be working well. Will update if anything changes.

    Thank you.

  • @Ana Rodriguez OK
