DK0701 3rd monitor on VGA is now only giving a maximum resolution of 1280x720

  • DK0701 3rd monitor on VGA is now only giving a maximum resolution of 1280x720. It has always been 1920x1080 like the 2 on HDMI as well until recently. Video drivers are fully up to date. I was attempting to install the DK0701 driver as well, but it fails with: Fail! ErrorCode:0xA (Enter Isp Mode fail!)

Any ideas on correcting this 3rd monitor over VGA? I am not using the DP port because my 3 monitors are hooked up to my desktop via DP. HDMI from 2 and 1 other VGA (using HDMI to VGA adapter) so I don't have to swap cables on 1 monitor constantly, just the inputs on the monitors.

  • Hi @Matt McCutcheon,

    Okay, I got your question.
In order to analyze the problems you encountered, I have a few questions that I need you to provide:
1: What is your computer brand model and DP version?
2: Have you done any other operations on your computer before this problem occurred? For example, there were 2 external monitors before, but now there are 3 external monitors; whether your system has been upgraded, such as upgrading win10 to 11.
3: Please provide the SN number of the product (usually on the back of the product).

  • 1. HP EliteBook 840 G8 and DP version, if you mean Display Port version, this laptop doesn't have a built in DP port, only HDMI. The Dell S2417DG monitors are DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4.
    2. I upgraded all the drivers on the machine, including the graphics driver. This is when it started. It had worked fine with 1920x1080 on all 3 monitors until this and it forces that 3rd montior now to only use 1280x720 for it's max. However, I had my IT department update my BIOS today as well on this work laptop to see if there is any difference.
    3. I'll have to check the SN when I get home and around to it. I'll update this if the BIOS update may have helped or not as well.

  • @Matt McCutcheon
Well. Wait for your SN number.

  • Model No: SEDK0701

    SN: 2252

  • I've kind of gotten used to just using the 2 monitors though anyway. Leaves my 3rd open for my desktop to play games or search for whatever that isn't blocked on the VPN for work lol. It's too bad though I couldn't trade this model in for a discount on one of the newer ones that have 3 HDMI ports now like I had wanted to begin with since my 3 DP ports on monitors go to desktop, not the laptop.

  • Hi @Matt McCutcheon

Have you solved the resolution problem before? For example: have you updated the computer's BIOS, etc.

As for the discount you mentioned, you can send me the link of the model you want to buy. If we have a promotion, we will notify you.

  • Yeah, BIOS was fully updated, all drivers. The problem started after actually updating some drivers on this laptop as it worked great right from the start using all 3 monitors at 1920x1080, 2 HDMI and 1 VGA w/ the HDMI adapter. I may actually be getting a refresher machine soon anyway, so maybe it will work then again :) I was kind of joking on that discount thing, I may need a 2nd one anyway later down the road too. I am sure the whole problem is that HDMI adapter and I just got lucky at the start there of it working.

  • Hi @Matt McCutcheon

You can try again as follows:

1: Roll back the graphics card driver
Operation: Open the device manager - display adapter - right click the graphics card driver - there is an option to roll back - click the program

2: After the first step, install the file we provide.
